Researching further into this project - Lubetkin, Tectons & Dudley Zoo, I came across a number of interesting books which provided a fascinating insight into the 1930s when Dudley zoo opened. Containing various photos, and documentation which is difficult to find on the internet as this era is a little difficult to research fully.
Dudley, Living Memories. Dr Paul Collins, The Francis Firth Collection 2005 |
An Illustrated Chronicle of Dudley Town & Manor, John Hemingway. MFH Publishing, 2009 |
A brief history of the zoo in the Illustrated Chronicle of Dudley Town & Manor, you can see from the photo just how many people crammed the streets of Dudley on the opening day in May 1937. |
Towers and Tectons at DZG, A view from the Hill. DZG 2009 |
The Towers and Tectons book is split into 2 - one half the history of the tectons, and the other half the conservation and research at DZG.
This book really has a wealth of information, photographs and a deeper insight into the restoration of the tecton structures, and excerpts from various zoo guides, newspapers etc.

Dudley Archives
On a visit to Dudley Archives it was interesting to look back at verious media from around 1937 when the zoo was being built and opened. In particular I was looking at the newspapers and various pictures/articles on the fashion as well as the original blue prints.
